Tim Foley: Wall St. Journal, Recent Work

The illustration above was done by Tim Foley for the Wall Street Journal last week. “The original version is the one on the left, as I wanted to show the dark murky depths swallowing the figure near the bottom of the layout. However, the designer was worried about how it would print, so I revised it so that the solid blacks weren't so pronounced. I'm torn as to which one I like better.”

Kavel Rafferty: Love x 3 = Times UK

This is a series of illustrations by Kavel Rafferty for the Times UK short stories supplement. The brief was to design faux book jackets to illustrate three disparate tales of love.

Since the image called for a large format and good detail, Martin decided to go all vector on Spidey. It would be more laborious at times, but he felt that the scalability of the format was worth it.

Gary Redford illustrated this on-pack promotion for Kellogg’s Corn Flakes in the UK. The consumer collects tokens to help donate trees to villages in Africa via Aid Charity Bothar.

One of NBC’s most popular Saturday morning children’s shows has been “3-2-1 Penguins!” which charts the animated adventures of two kids, three penguins and a LOT of nutty characters.
