Society of Illustrators Editorial & Book Exhibition


This year, the SI celebrates its 50th year of exhibiting the best that illustration has to offer. Congratulations to the 21 ispotters whose work was chosen for the Editorial and Book show.

David Julian: George Lucas Educational Foundation


This illustration by David Julian, a gatefold spread folded Cover, won several awards, most notably the Maggie Award under the category “Best Cover, Consumer Magazine. “

“The idea was to show a fantastical education machine that referenced the feature story about how to save public education by incorporating new ideas within classes. The award went to the client, the George Lucas Educational Foundation. This is my sixth Maggie Award.”

Stephen Savage: Gold Medal at SI

The Society of Illustrators 2008 awards for advertising, institutional and uncommissioned work won’t be given out until March 28, but Stephen Savage gave us a heads up about winning Gold for his needlepoint portrait of Steven Heller.
